This charming and unique accommodation is located about 10 minutes by car from GSTAAD, its stores and restaurants, its INNER POOL, and its large SKIING AREA, as well as LAUENENSEE, a beautiful alpine lake suitable for skating in winter and swimming in summer.

The guestroom

Rustic bedroom of about 15 m2 (up to 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 kids) with traditional wooden furniture and organic cotton bedding, large shelves, and cable TV. Abutting bathroom with bathtub and vegan/organic products.

Breakfast

Organic and/or local vegetarian/vegan breakfast included, with fresh bread, butter, jams and vegan spreads, local cheese and honey, fruit juice, coffee, and tea, served from 8am. Possibility to use the fridge and kitchen for snacks, free Nespresso capsules (max 3/day), Italian coffee machine available. Wide selection of organic/biodynamic teas.

The host is a vegetarian (with dairy and egg products) since 1998 and was the owner of a vegetarian restaurant in the resort town of Sana, in the Rio de Janeiro region, in 2005-2007. He also has a significant experience in fasting (water-drinking only): he has fasted 6 times (5 to 14 days, total 60), and can orient guests in this regard, but without any medical expertise.

Activities in and around the house

For amateurs of “powsurfing” (snowboard without bindings) and for those curious to discover this beautiful, ecological, and healthy sport, it is possible to practice it directly from the terrace from October to March. The equipment can be rented, lessons are proposed.

Visitors have access to the entire apartment, except for the host’s bedroom and bathroom. The terrace is also available and can be pleasant even in the heart of winter when the sun shines, as it faces south. The living room (30 m2) can be used for reading, home cinema or just to exchange ideas or take a nap. Depending on the affinities and desires of the visitors on the one hand, and the availability of the host on the other, he is either at the disposal of the visitors or retires to his room/office in the basement.

About the host:

Host Urs has a rather sober lifestyle. He therefore prefers to receive quiet and not too noisy visitors. Preferably couples or pairs of friends, with a maximum of one child accompanied by an adult.

Having worked as a freelance legal translator (from five languages into French) since 2000, Urs has had the opportunity to live in tourist locations around the world since then. The idea of hosting came about in 2014 when he was living in Lisbon, where he started hosting guests via Couchsurfing. The experience repeated itself a few years later through AIRBNB in Búzios/Brazil, and now he would be happy to host you in Lauenen, where he practices and teaches snow surfing in winter and grows an organic alpine garden in summer.
